Sugarpine × Mizuba: Meet the Hojicha Banana Pudding Sundae

Mizuba Tea Co. collaboration sundae with Sugarpine Drive In – miso caramel hojicha banana pudding parfait

PSA (Public Sundae Announcement): our dream sundae is a reality since we've teamed up with Sugarpine Drive-In!

Meet the viral Sugarpine × Mizuba Tea Co. Hojicha Banana Pudding Sundae: a nostalgic comfort-food favorite reimagined with our Hojicha  (Japanese roasted green tea), chocolate soft serve, sweet, oleo-saccharum bananas, their signature sweet-and-salty miso caramel, and plenty of crunchies.

A familiar favorite, with a toasty twist

Banana pudding has comfort food written all over it. For this collaboration, Sugarpine gave the Southern favorite a generous dose of our hojicha powder, bringing warm, toasty notes of cocoa and caramel to the mix.

The roasted tea notes pair beautifully with ripe banana, adding depth without losing the familiar, nostalgic character that makes banana pudding so lovable. The two flavors are a little unexpected and right at home, all in the same spoonful.

Let’s talk about those layers and what they taste like!

There’s a lot to love here: hojicha banana pudding layered with chocolate soft serve and Sugarpine’s signature miso caramel sundae sauce. The chocolate plays into the hojicha’s cocoa notes, while the miso caramel brings that sweet-and-salty contrast that keeps you coming back for another bite.

Then comes the crunch. A puffed rice, banana chip, and Nilla crunch add a crisp, playful finish to all those creamy layers. Toasty tea, ripe fruit, chocolate, caramel, crunch. We take our research seriously, and this was a delicious assignment.

Our kind of collaboration

We love seeing our tea take on a new life in the hands of creative chefs. This sundae puts hojicha in a different setting, letting its warm roasted character shine alongside a familiar dessert favorite.

To the Sugarpine team, thank you for giving our hojicha such a sweet place to land. And to our fellow banana pudding fans, consider this your Public Sundae Announcement.

Want to try it? Check with Sugarpine Drive-In for current availability before heading over. Bring your appetite, and perhaps a fellow sundae researcher.
