House Organic Matcha Green Tea

$ 28.00

Our certified organic first-flush artisanal matcha. A more savory offering than our Daily Matcha, the House showcases fresh, traditional & enjoyable flavors. With organic matcha, it is said the more savory, earthy flavor is similar to how matcha was grown and produced historically. Like our ceremonial Nagomi Matcha, this organic tea is only harvested once a year and is the first harvest of the year due to the difficult process of growing organic tea. Sip the vibrant green tea and dream of the equally vibrant tea fields of Uji, Japan.

Aroma: strong aromatics of ripe red fruits - particularly raspberry jam.

Flavor Profile: what is sweet on the nose comes out savory in the mouth. House's smooth umami flavor showcases vegetal creaminess with brisk oceanic hints.

How to brew:

  • Warm your chawan tea bowl with hot water.
  • Place 1.5-2g (1 tsp) of  matcha into your chawan.
  • Add 1 ounce of 160ºF-175ºF water to the tea and make koicha (a thick paste).
  • Add about another 1.5-2 ounces of water.
  • Whisk with your chasen until the tea is fully aerated to make usucha.
  • Enjoy!

Add another 2-4 oz. water and whisk the tea in an M-shape motion until frothy. Enjoy!

Stone Milled

All Mizuba matcha is stone milled in Japan. This time-intensive process leads to a depth of flavor not found in conventional teas.

House Matcha

"This matcha is very delicious! It’s vibrant, earthy, smooth, and very creamy! I will be purchasing again its so good and an affordable price!"

Poor Quality Control

"I was very disappointed with the House Organic Matcha. When I opened the can, the matcha was already oxidized. Upon opening, it smelled fishy and seaweedy and was a dull yellow color rather than the bright green you would expect from quality matcha. What was especially frustrating was the packaging. In my experience, matcha is normally sealed inside an additional plastic or an airtight inner wrapping for freshness, but this one was not. When I opened the can, the powder was just sitting directly inside, which makes me question whether the container was truly airtight. Mizuba plastic-wraps their other teas, so I do not understand why this batch was packaged differently. This was not a storage issue on my end. I kept it refrigerated before opening, so the problem clearly came from their packaging or quality control. I have also seen other customers report similar issues, which makes this seem like a broader quality control problem rather than a one-time mistake. For the price, I expected much better freshness and consistency."

House vs. Daily Matcha

"I definitely prefer the Daily Matcha over the House matcha. The color of the House matcha is a bit dull/yellow/brown in comparison, and it is definitely has more vegetal, bitter notes, and leaves a bit of an aftertaste that I do not prefer. That being said, the Daily matcha is one of my favorite matchas out there right now, so I really enjoy that one!"

Great quality for the price point!

"Hard to find a more compelling quality for the price."

Amazing!

"I have tried the House and the Daily Matchas from Mizuba tea and have been extremely satisfied with both! I like to use the daily matcha when I want a simple, rich matcha. I like to use the house matcha when adding flavored syrup. The house is less sweet and more earthy which allows the matcha flavor not to be masked by the syrup flavor."

You'll love, if you love an earthy matcha

"For what the taste notes are on the matcha, delicate and earthy it hits the spot. Its not my preferred profile as I prefer sweeter matcha, but the consistency and the creaminess of it is amazing."

Q&A

Is this similar in taste to your regular matcha the daily (non organic) variety?
Hi Roxanne, Thanks for your question and for your enthusiasm for our teas! The House Organic Mizuba Matcha is different than our Daily matcha. The House is a bit more umami-forward, and slightly more savory than the Daily matcha, yet it is also bright and smooth. You'll find tasting notes and flavor profile descriptions on each of our product pages. Cheers! - Team Mizuba
