What is a Yuzamashi?
A yuzamashi is a Japanese tea tool used to cool boiled water prior to brewing delicate styles like gyokuro or sencha. Made of ceramic or porcelain, it has a wide, open shape that helps lower the water temperature quickly. Using a yuzamashi prevents overextracting the leaves and ensures a smoother, more balanced flavor. Traditionally an essential tool for precise and respectful Japanese tea preparation.
