Nagomi Organic Matcha Green Tea

$50.00

Harvested only once a year, our first flush organic matcha is certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Japan (JAS). The single harvest ensures your tea is the highly sought first harvest of the year and full of nutrients. With organic matcha, it is said that the more savory, earthy flavor is similar to how matcha was grown and produced historically. Though certified organic matcha is difficult to produce, the effort is well worth the result. The bold, profound umami taste of our organic ceremonial grade matcha is an experience not to be missed.

Aroma: our most robust Matcha can give scents of dried figs on the nose.

Flavor Profile: nuttier flavors like roasted hazelnuts or buttery macadamia nuts, and exceptionally vegetal tones (garden greens, kelp spinach) give our organic ceremonial tea its bold, blissful bloom in the mouth.

How to brew:

  • Warm your chawan tea bowl with hot water.
  • Place 1.5-2g (1 tsp) of  matcha into your chawan.
  • Add 1 ounce of 160ºF-175ºF water to the tea and make koicha (a thick paste).
  • Add about another 1.5-2 ounces of water.
  • Whisk with your chasen until the tea is fully aerated to make usucha.
  • Enjoy!

Why we love it:

Tea Leaf by Mizuba Tea Company

While we love the rich history and depth of Uji, and the playful minerality of Yame’s terroir, there is one region of matcha production that has quietly been lauded for generations. Though Shizuoka is widely known as Japan’s tea powerhouse, a climb into its mountain “Alps” reveals the legacy matcha of Hon Yama.

Add another 2-4 oz. water and whisk the tea in an M-shape motion until frothy. Enjoy!

Stone Milled

All Mizuba matcha is stone milled in Japan. This time-intensive process leads to a depth of flavor not found in conventional teas.

New customer that will be coming back

"I usually don’t leave reviews, but I really love this matcha. This is the 1st matcha I bought after being pretty dedicated to Ippodo Sayaka and it really blew me away. It’s so nutty and full and delicious. I will be ordering again. Maybe even this evening!"

Deliciously nutty

"This one has a nice forward matcha flavor and nutty kick! Was pleasantly surprised! I don’t love nutty matcha, but liked this a lot!"

Nagomi is my preferite Matcha tea

"Nagomi Ceremonial Matcha Tea is excellent! It is likely my most preferite Matcha in absolute. It never creates lumps, after just some mixing with little water. I have always to be careful to shipment as it is expensive, so I tend to buy multiple boxes. But overall now I drink it every day, and it replaced my daily coffee routine, and I feel so much better, I sleep better, I am more relaxed the whole day."

Gabriele M. (5/5)

I love the daily matcha,

"I love the daily matcha, but that was sold out. I gave this one a try. It's fine, but it is a bit bitter for me. I prefer the buttery flavor of the daily matcha"

Heather V. (3/5)

Wonderful

"Wonderful experience from ordering to arriving and finally drinking!"

Annette B. (5/5)

My favorite!

"I have tried several Matcha teas but Nagomi is my absolute favorite. It’s still has the Matcha characteristics but to me is milder. It’s a great tea in the morning when you are not really awake yet. Wonderful tea to have when you just sit and plan the rest of your day. Love it!"

Q&A

Hi Mizuba I purchased the nagomi ceremonial and found it to be a bit bitter. I am interested in placing another order. What do you suggest? The only way I can drink the nagomi is by adding in steamed milk. I want to try a matcha that I can drink straight up with nothing added. thank you. Lori
Hi Lori, Thanks for getting in touch. We’re happy to advise. We do carry a range of multiple matcha teas to showcase a variety of flavor profiles, and the House and Nagomi can lean more toward the savory, oceanic, earthy side – evocative of the way matcha was produced in the old temple era in Japan. Our Daily, Yorokobi, Kokoro, Samidori, Uji Hikari, and Gokou matcha teas are all spectacular without milk! The office favorite is especially the Yorokobi. However, the Daily is super smooth and sweet as well. You can’t go wrong with any of the above :) Not sure what temperature you’re brewing at, but another good rule of thumb with matcha is that the cooler your water, the more sweet notes come out. The hotter the water, the more savory umami notes are extracted. We recommend anywhere from 160º - 175ºF. Hope that helps! Have a wonderful week, Team Mizuba
What is the size of this Matcha container? in ounces or some measurement. It does not say on the container. ALSO: do you have bigger sizes so it may last for two months? How many ounces in that?
Hi there, happy to answer your questions! 1) All tea sizes are listed on our product page. (For Nagomi, the details are listed in the last line of the second paragraph). The tea's net weight is also printed on the back of the matcha label. The core Mizuba matcha line (Daily, House, Nagomi, Yorokobi, and Kokoro) are always 40g tins, ~ 20-30 servings depending on your preference. We recommend a standard serving of 2 grams. 40 grams is about 1.4 ounces. 2) All our ceremonial grade matcha teas (appropriate for both koicha and usucha) come in 40g tins. 40 grams is actually generous in the industry – most tins on average are 20-30 grams. However, if you enjoy matcha on a daily basis our 100g culinary organic matcha is perfect! We absolutely love this tea and the 100g bag is about 40 teaspoons. It's smooth and perfectly suited for matcha lattes or even drinking as a plain tea. We find many folks choose the 100g bag, or make a subscription for 2 tins if they are planning to have matcha daily for 2 months. Hope that helps! Feel free to send any further questions to orders@mizubatea.com and we'll be happy to be of assistance.
