Our last tea of 2019? So many incredible teas to choose from, and so tough to choose! But after plenty of thought (and plenty of cups of tea to help us decide!), we're closing out the year with a cup of our tencha.
Why tencha? It's delicious, for one — packed with deep umami flavors, plus notes of buttered toast and honeydew melon. But for us it also ties back into what Mizuba is all about: celebrating the culture and heritage of Japanese tea.
As you probably know by now (we've certainly said it enough!), tencha's primary purpose is to be stone-ground into matcha — but this year we were lucky enough to get our hands on some reserved for loose leaf drinking. Tencha is a bridge between matcha and loose-leaf, and a unique celebration of our mission and purpose. Cheers to that!
What's next for Mizuba in 2020? Our little company started six years ago with a single relationship with one matcha producer... who we work with to this day! In the years since we've met even more amazing Japanese artisan tea producers, and this year for the first time we launched a collection of loose leaf teas. In 2020 we're committed to bringing you more of what we do best: sharing incredible Japanese teas that are ethically and sustainably crafted (⬅️ more on this soon) from producers whom we personally know and love.
And don't worry — we haven't forgotten about matcha. In fact, we have a ✨big matcha announcement✨ coming next month! Stay tuned to our email newsletters to be the first to know.
As always, our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support, friendship, and love! Our best to you and yours as this new year (and decade!) begins.
