Kuwacha Mulberry Tea

桑茶

Our first herbal tisane from Japan

Mulberry tea has been highly regarded for centuries for its health benefits. Most well-known is its naturally occurring compound, 1-deoxynojirimycin, or DNJ, which has been studied for its effects in aiding against diabetes and regulating blood sugar. Drinking this tea has quite the history – the plant arrived in Japan by the 4th century, earlier than when the first tea seeds arrived!

Our kuwacha is a delicious brew that is smooth and comforting. Choose this tea as a great caffeine-free alternative when the craving for an afternoon or evening cup strikes. Our farm partner grows our mulberry in Shimane Prefecture's nutritious soils without using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

The flavor has a stronger, more herbal-forward flavor than our classic teas, but you'll also detect a fine, pleasant sweetness to it.

Tasting Notes:
