Yorokobi Ceremonial Organic Matcha Green Tea

CHF 36.00

Yorokobi, translating to "joy" in Japanese, certainly lives up to its namesake! We were thrilled to find this exquisite matcha as it is one of the smoothest, most umami-filled organic matcha green teas we've come across.

While most organic matcha teas are very tannic and earthy, the care and attention to growing our beautiful Yorokobi result in a velvety, vegetal sweetness that is a joy to drink. We love how deep and mellow this rich cup is.

The official blog post about Yorokobi can be read here.

Flavor Profile: a light, sweet floral silkiness evokes thoughts of Spring. Clean and full-bodied, the vegetal depth of the tea categorizes it as pure umami.

How to brew:

  • Warm your chawan tea bowl with hot water.
  • Place 1.5-2g (1 tsp) of  matcha into your chawan.
  • Add 1 ounce of 160ºF-175ºF water to the tea and make koicha (a thick paste).
  • Add about another 1.5-2 ounces of water.
  • Whisk with your chasen until the tea is fully aerated to make usucha.
  • Enjoy!

Yorokobi Ceremonial Organic Matcha Green Tea

CHF 36.00
A tin of Mizuba Yorokobi Matcha Green Tea in a shaded tencha field in Uji, Japan.

Our artisanal Yorokobi is made of 1st flush Spring, single-estate (exceptionally rare!) tencha leaves that are shade-grown for 20 days prior to harvest on volcanic mountain slopes, in soil known as Shirasu.

Yorokobi is made of two cultivars: Okumidori and Kanayamidori.

Our matcha is exceptionally fresh: sourced, shade-grown, and stone-milled to order from our friend's organic matcha manufactory in Uji, Japan.

Our matcha is grown solely with natural, organic fertilizers and no agricultural chemicals or pesticides are used.

How To Make Matcha

Follow our simple guide below to make the most delicious Mizuba matcha! You can also see video guides here — including our favorite latte recipe.

It's time to make matcha! Spoon two chashaku scoops (1 tsp) into your matcha bowl or cup.

Add 1 oz. 160-175º F water. Work chasen (bamboo whisk) in a circle to make a paste.

Add another 2-4 oz. water and whisk the tea in an M-shape motion until frothy. Enjoy!

Stone Milled

All Mizuba matcha is stone milled in Japan. This time-intensive process leads to a depth of flavor not found in conventional teas.
