The jewel of Austin's latest collection was made with natural, serene inspiration. The bowl evokes in the artist "the sensation of walking by a stream, and seeing the reflection of a clouded sky on the stream's surface out of the corner of one’s eye." The artist formed the bowl with the intention of exploring the play of what is seen and not seen. A beautiful example is in how the chawan is made: the bowl is first gathered into a tall thick cone (unseen by us), and then faceted and stretched to bring a gentle motion to its surface into the final chawan (seen). Enjoy a treasured matcha moment with this special chawan.
